The UAE is a single market with an awkward geography

Seven emirates, a coastline running most of the length of the country, and a mountain range separating the east coast from everything else. Healthcare companies entering the UAE usually plan for the market and then discover the map.

The practical answer is almost always one compliant storage location with proper distribution, rather than stock scattered across emirates. Medicines are licensed, monitored and counted per location. Two locations means two sets of everything, including two ways for the temperature record to develop a gap.

What "licensed" actually means here

Storing and distributing medicines in the UAE is regulated activity. The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) governs pharmaceutical activity federally; in Abu Dhabi the Department of Health (DoH) is the local regulator. A facility needs approval for what it holds, a responsible pharmacist, controlled and recorded storage conditions, and traceability to batch and expiry.

None of that is optional, and none of it is satisfied by a general commercial warehouse with an air conditioner. It is the single most common reason a first shipment sits at a port.

What we hold, and in what conditions

• Ambient — the bulk of tablets, capsules, dressings and consumables, held below 25°C and actually held there in August, not just in February.
• Chilled — 2–8°C for vaccines, insulin and biologicals, monitored continuously with alarms.
• Frozen — down to -20°C for products that need it.
• Segregated areas — quarantine for stock awaiting release, plus returns and rejected stock kept apart from saleable inventory.

Every pallet position is mapped and every zone is logged, so when a customer or an inspector asks how a batch was stored, the answer is a record rather than a reassurance.

Rent the space you need, not a building

Most companies arriving in the UAE do not need a warehouse. They need a few pallet positions that happen to be inside one.

Space is available by the pallet position or by square metre, short or long term. That matters more than it sounds, because healthcare volumes in this market are rarely flat — a tender lands, a registration comes through, a seasonal line spikes, and then it quietens down again. A fixed lease charges you for the quiet months too.

Distribution is where most cold chains break

A perfect cold room is undone by a delivery van in July. The vulnerable part of the journey is almost never the storage — it is the last leg, the loading bay and the time a door stands open on a forecourt.

We run temperature-controlled delivery across the emirates with validated packing for chilled lines and loggers travelling with the shipment, so the receiving pharmacy or hospital gets the evidence it needs to accept the stock rather than a delivery note and a shrug.
